Do not let the name make the whole decision
Two pages can share a title while describing different films. A remake has its own cast and release date. A sequel continues a story but is still a separate production. A restored or extended edition, by contrast, may be a different presentation of the same film.
Use the comparisons below when a name is ambiguous. Dune has distinct screen adaptations. Drishyam has Malayalam films and Hindi adaptations with different years. Ghosts has British and American series. Cold Feet can mean a feature film or a British television series.
Choose by cast, language and year
The poster is helpful, but actors and original language often settle the question faster. Once you have identified a production, select the viewing edition on the destination service. A cast difference cannot be fixed by changing the subtitle language.
